TAPRE Course is the course for busy people.

TAPRE Course includes everything you will need to pass the patent registration exam.  The exam is based on the Manual of Patent Examining Procedure, or MPEP, which is more than 3,000 pages long.  To help you conquer the mountain of material, the complete TAPRE Course includes the following seven resources:

1. Prosecution Overview.  A plain-English, big-picture description of patent prosecution.  This resource creates a framework and introduces you to vocabulary that will make understanding the more detailed information easier.
2. MPEP Abridged.  A highly edited and condensed version of the MPEP covering only the most tested material.  Read less and understand more with this vital resource that is less than 1/10 the length of the complete MPEP.
3. Most Wanted.  Practice exam questions and material focused on the 10 most-tested laws.  Mastery of the basic laws governing patent prosecution is essential to passing the exam.  Most Wanted provides material about a law followed by actual exam questions so you can focus on mastering one law at a time.
4. MPEP Drills.  Exercises designed to familiarize you with the MPEP and its navigation tools.  Getting to the right material quickly is essential to success on exam day.  These exercises help you to master MPEP navigation.
5. Complete practice exams with answers and explanations.  Actual timed exams and in-depth explanations of the answers allow you to try out what you are learning and get ready for test day.
6. Flash Cards.  Complete coverage of the material to be memorized for the exam.  Most of those who fail the exam do so because they did not realize the importance of memorization.  Mastering the flash cards assures you will have memorized the right material.
7. Computer-based exam environment. TAPRE Course provides instructions and the complete, unabridged MPEP so that you can setup your practice environment similarly to the computer-based exam environment you will experience on test day.

The Course Book

The course book provides an overall Strategy and Schedule to guide you through the entire preparation process. You begin with a Patent Prosecution Overview that helps you understand the big picture of what you need to learn and starts building your patent vocabulary. Spaced throughout the course, you work on MPEP Drills that help you learn the intricacies of the MPEP.

A TAPRE Course proprietary system helps you learn exactly where things are in the MPEP. When you're taking the exam, speed is of the essence. Many of the people who do not pass the exam are unable to finish. Knowing where the important things are in the MPEP and how to find them fast will save you time looking things up and preparation time as you will not need to memorize as much.

The bulk of your learning in TAPRE Course will come from Most Wanted and MPEP Abridged. Most Wanted helps you learn the top 10 most tested rules and laws on the exam. After a thorough discussion of each, Most Wanted includes actual exam questions related to each area so that you can begin practicing exam question right away. Of course, the questions will challenge you at first but complete explanations of the answers will help you learn from your mistakes.

The MPEP Abridged is a highly condensed version of the MPEP covering the most important topics. The MPEP is meant to be a reference for patent examiners. Chapters include notes and materials just for examiners that are not tested. Other courses ask you to read complete, unedited chapters of the MPEP with all the extraneous information, which wastes your valuable preparation time. When you read the MPEP Abridged, you'll be able to understand the material better because the confusing and extraneous fluff is taken out for you!

Practice exams

TAPRE Course includes four complete practice exams along with explanations for each question. The Schedule includes practice exams and time to review the exams. Taking the practice exams is some of the most important preparation you'll do for the exam. Strangely, the other courses leave practice exams to amorphous post-course study time. However, you'll learn better if you start experiencing exam questions at the same time you are learning. Then you can focus you efforts knowing the level of information you need to answer exam questions.

Flash cards

Throughout TAPRE Course, you'll use flash cards to help you learn and then memorize key areas for the test. Memorization is absolutely vital to finish the exam in the allotted time. TAPRE Course makes the memorization as painless as possible with helpful mnemonics and a careful focus on the most commonly tested areas. Between the memorization and skills you gain using the MPEP, you'll gain the skills to complete the exam on time.

TAPRE Course CD

TAPRE Course also includes a CD with the complete MPEP. Using tips provided in the strategy section, TAPRE Course allows you to setup the MPEP similarly to how it is available at the testing facility. That way, when you walk in on test-day, you'll already be ahead of the other applicants who have to figure out the most effective ways to use the provided MPEP. The CD also contains the General Requirements Bulletin, which includes the forms needed to apply for the exam, and helpful links.
